C’est à partir du 25 mars prochain que nous pourrons visiter l’installation interactive Ocean Motel de l’artiste et réalisatrice Françoise Lavoie-Pilote à la galerie Oboro.
Je connais Françoise comme réalisatrice; nous avons travaillé ensemble sur 3 projets de pub télé en stop-motion. Son travail d’artiste m’est encore inconnu, mais j’anticipe avec joie l’expérience qu’elle nous propose, cette visite de l’intimité fictive de deux femmes à travers l’environnement recréé de deux chambres de motel, dans lesquelles le visiteur est invité à fouiller parmi les effets personnels de l’absente et de se raconter ses souvenirs à travers les objets, des installations sonores et vidéos…
J’ai eu le plaisir de photographier la dernière production de mes amis du Théâtre de la Marée Haute, Kick, une pièce drôle et troublante, à l’affiche en ce moment Aux Écuries.
C’est hier qu’avait lieu la soirée de remise des Prix Grafika au Métropolis. Mon équipe deLeitmotiv Studio était là pour documenter la soirée (images ici) et je peux maintenant partager les portraits des jurés du concours que j’ai fait il y a quelques semaines. Les portraits, les résultats, et tout le reste dans le magazine Infopresse de février.
Here is the portrait of partners Brian Gonick and Richard Mashaal from Senvest that I shot forBarron’s Magazine, New York.
After a few debates on where to set the shot, we thought it would be fun to do the pictures up on the roof of the Senvest building downtown, in the snow, and that it would give the shot an exotic look to new yorkers…
Brian and Richard were very open-minded and enthousiastic, even after spending 15 minutes up there in the wind and a cool -15 degrees, with their shoes burried under 10 inches of snow!
I photographed Lhasa in 2006 for Ici magazine in Lachine. She was very generous with me as I photographed her, singing to herself the entire time when we weren’t talking. She invited me to an acoustic concert she was giving during the “Coups de coeur francophone” and it’s been one of the few musical perfomances that has had the most profound effect on me.
Found this portrait of writer Nicolas Dickner while looking through my archives… I met Nicolas last year at the marché Jean-Talon; his (awesome) book Nikolski was being re-edited in Great Britain and was going to be distributed in many anglo countries and I did some shots of him for a newspaper in Abu Dhabi.
I like this portrait a lot. It shows a more troubled Dickner than the one we usually see in pictures in the Voir paper or other medias.
Had a shoot on the roof of a downtown building yesterday, in a cold minus 10 degrees and snow flurries.
The final shot for Barron’s Magazine (New York) will be available here in a week or two, but in the mean time, here’s a funny shot of my assistant Raphaël Ouellet.
Le magazine Commerce en est à sa dernière édition, et pour l’occasion j’ai reçu le mandat de photographier M. Darren Entwistle, pdg de Telus, pour illustrer la couverture du défunt magazine et accompagner la seule et unique entrevue qu’a donné M. Entwistle en plus de 5 ans.
Droit, digne et très pressé, l’homme s’est néanmoins détendu légèrement le temps de quelques clichés et s’est même laissé aller à raconter quelques hilarantes anecdotes de jeunesse durant ce court photoshoot.
